Why DeckSpec
A document, not another generated image.
- Editable objects. Fix the title without redrawing the figure. Boxes and arrows stay put.
- Portable source. JSON, YAML, and .deckspec are what you keep — not a chat screenshot.
- Data on the slide. Change a metric or table row in the document instead of hunting pixels.
- Connectors that stay attached. Routes belong to objects. Moving a box does not leave a lying arrow.
- Exports are copies. PDF and PowerPoint for the room. The next edit happens in DeckSpec. Do not regenerate the artwork.
Roadmap
Toward 1.0
Alpha is early access. These are the next honest steps — finishing the editor you can use now, not a second product.
- Authoring completeness. Insert, inspect, and nest every object a slide needs so you do not fall back to generating a picture.
- Diagram craft. Richer lane styling and technical icons that stay objects you can recolor and bind.
- Dense slides that stay true. Large tables and connector diagrams remain selectable and export-faithful.
- Keyboard and screen reader. The file has to be operable without pointing at pixels.
- What you see is what you export. SVG, PNG, and PDF should match the authored objects.
Later: an agent that returns an editable document, optional visual assist for icons and comps, cloud, and other browsers. Not in Alpha: chat that emits a picture of a slide.
